You could hear the band from some distance away as they approached, heading up the lantern procession. Then as they appeared in the town square the great bell of the Souzaphone glowed in the torchlight, a perfect visual equivalent of its sonorous tones. I caught enough digital reference material to be able to devise what later became this group portrait of the band, listening avidly to CDs of marching Jazz bands as I worked!
